Have you ever felt like you just don’t fit anywhere? I have felt this way most of my life. For starters I am a TCK (third culture kid) and a MK (Missionary kid). This means I not only grew up in the spotlight because my parents are missionaries but I did so in a culture that was different than either of theirs. Not only that but my mom is also a TCK and MK. Growing up I never really knew what to say when people asked where I was from or when people made references to “my culture”. My parents always taught me and my siblings that we belonged to God’s kingdom. They also taught us to appreciate many different cultures and cuisines. The place I feel most comfortable or familiar is traveling. I love traveling! Exploring new places or old, connecting with people and learning their culture, language and cuisine, discovering the beauty in each place, this is what I love to do! Beyond that though, I love to see what God is doing in the Global Church. Last week I had the amazing experience of attending the Every Nation World Conference with over 5,000 people from 80+ nations. It was so beautiful to see how God is using Every Nation to literally reach every nation with the Gospel. It was inspiring to see people willing to go and fulfill the great commission. Deep inside I couldn’t help wondering why can’t I feel called to one specific people or nation?
When you follow Christ how can you not be called? How can you not go wherever he has placed you, to the people all around you? His last words before ascending into heaven was to tell us to go! So here we go! I am stepping out and starting on a new adventure. In about 2 months or so I will be starting my Masters at Fuller Theological Seminary and be devoting more of my time to ministry, creating and learning. How can I fit in when I was called to stand out and stand up! I am learning to embrace the beauty of the diversity within myself. I am learning that I do fit, I fit wherever and whenever I decide to. Most of all I fit with my global family of believers! Join me as I discover the adventures God has for me as I GO! "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." - Matthew 28:19-20
