About Me!
My name is Destiny Kreider. I am a passionate creator, writer, artist, Christ-follower, adventurer ready to take on new challenges and learn new things every day. I grew up in a missionary family living in Cusco, Peru and Harrisonburg, VA USA. My family is very multicultural which influenced my creativity from a very young age. I have always been drawn to beauty, color and diversity. I have always felt closest to God when creating and admiring all that He has created.
When I was in high school I learned sewing and how to make sewing patterns. I begged a friend to teach me how to oil paint and watercolor. I would draw every chance I got and never ceased to expand my imagination. In 12th grade I took my first formal art class and soaked everything up like a sponge. It was just an Intro to Art class but it was there that I learned how to draw a portrait, how to work with clay, and many more things. I knew early on that I was called to ministry but wan't sure what that would look like. However I knew that the first step would be to learn all I could about God and the Bible. So at 18 years old I left home and headed to Bible School in Lima, NY. I spent 3 years in Bible School and my artistic ability grew and expanded during this time. I learned from fellow classmates and would draw in chapel, in class, in my dorm room, in the prayer room and outside. The more I learned about God and the more I got to know Him the more I wanted to create. As I finished up my degree at Bible School I decided to go on and get my bachelors in art. My time in Art school was not easy. I had less formal education in art than my fellow classmates but I was determined and motivated. Within five semesters I had completed my degree and expanded my artistic knowledge and abilities tremendously. I graduated with honors and had created a capstone collection that combined my passion for the Bible with my passion for art. In 2015 I began doing freelance work in graphic design and in 2016 I began painting portraits to give as gifts. I have continued to grow as an artist and as a Christ-follower and am so excited to see where God will take me. I have traveled quite a bit and each adventure has influenced me as a person as well as an artist. |
